An email verification code is a short, single-use string, most often a 6-digit number like 482915, that an app emails to prove you control an inbox. You enter it on a confirmation screen, the app checks it against the one it sent, and the step clears. It is the same mechanism behind a one-time passcode (OTP) in two-factor authentication. Are these real email verification codes?

No. Every email verification code this generator produces is random and fake, synthetic sample data meant for testing signup, OTP, and 2FA flows. A code is not tied to any real account, email, or session, and it will not log anyone in or confirm anything anywhere.

That is the whole point of the tool: a believable one-time code you can paste into an “enter the verification code” field or a test fixture without waiting on a real email. When you need to confirm a real address can actually receive the message that carries a code, that is a different job, handled by the free email checker.

What is an email verification code?

An email verification code is a short, single-use string, most often a 6-digit number like 482915, that an app emails you to prove you control an inbox. You enter the code on screen, the app matches it, and the email verification step is complete. It is the same idea as a one-time passcode (OTP) used in two-factor authentication.

This page does not send any email. It generates the codes themselves, the kind of value that would arrive in an email verification message, so you can use them as realistic test data while building or QA-ing the flow that consumes them.

How do I generate an email verification code?

What length should an email verification code be?

Most products use a 6-digit numeric code, which is the familiar OTP length and easy to read off a phone. Four digits are common for low-risk confirmations, and eight characters, especially alphanumeric, raise the entropy when you want a code that is harder to guess or brute-force.

The generator covers four, six, and eight characters in numeric or alphanumeric, so you can mirror whatever your real flow issues. For readability the alphanumeric set skips look-alike characters such as O, 0, I, and 1, the same convention real code systems use.

Can I use these codes to test a signup or 2FA flow?

Yes, and it is the main use. A random verification code lets you fill the “enter the code we emailed you” field with realistic values so you can test the happy path, expiry handling, retry limits, and the error state for a wrong code, all without standing up a real mail server first.

One thing to keep in mind: because the code is generated here and not by your app, it will only match if your test harness treats it as the expected value. For an end-to-end test where the app generates and emails the real code, you need a test inbox to read it from. To confirm the address in that flow can receive mail at all, pair it with real-time verification.

Why does an app say email verification required, and where does the code fit in?

When a signup says email verification required, the app wants proof you own the address before it activates the account. It emails a verification message containing a code or a link; entering the code (or clicking the link) clears the requirement. It cuts down on typos, throwaway addresses, and fake accounts.

The code on this page stands in for the one inside that email verification message, so you can build and test the screen that asks for it. If you are deciding whether an address should even be allowed to reach the verification step, screen it first with the free email checker.

Can I generate a bulk list of verification codes?

Is generating a verification code here safe and private?

Yes. Generation happens entirely in your browser using the platform’s cryptographic random source, with no signup and no API call, so nothing you generate is sent to a server or logged. The codes are random strings, not linked to any person or account.

I never received my verification code. Will this tool send me one?

No. This tool does not send any email and cannot deliver a code to your inbox, it only produces sample codes for testing. If you are waiting on a real code from a service, check your spam folder, request a resend, and confirm you typed the right address.

A common reason a real verification message never arrives is that the address itself is invalid, full, or unable to receive mail. You can check whether an address can accept a verification email with the free email checker, probe the receiving mail server directly with the SMTP test, or test your own sending setup end to end with the verification engine.

Can I generate and verify codes through an API?

Generating codes here is a free, client-side tool, so there is no code- generation API to call, you can produce as many batches as you like right on this page. Email verification, though, is a real product: the REST API reference documents the endpoints for checking whether an address is valid and can receive a verification message, which you can wire into your signup, your CRM, or any tool that speaks REST.
